EggFest’s are events dedicated to the Big Green Egg. “Eggheads” (Big Green Egg Enthusiasts) travel from all over to participate and share in fun and festivities. While some Eggheads showcase their skills and talents, some cook for fun and all enjoy the opportunity to share the love and compassion for “The Ultimate Cooking Experience”. Whether you own a Big Green Egg or just want to sample unique recipes from BBQ to pizza to baked desserts, then EggFest is the event for you! It’s the perfect place for those interested in owning a Big Green Egg to sample the amazing food coming off of the Eggs and to learn all the different cooking possibilities. Imagine a festival with hundreds of people sharing a passion while passing out delicious food, and enjoying the party atmosphere! There will be amazing food coming off of the EGGs all day, so it’s a good practice to pace yourself and ask each EGG chef what makes their recipe special! We suggest that Tasters arrive at 10:00 AM and plan to spend the day in order to experience the “full” Big Green EggFest adventure! You’ll soon learn why the Big Green Egg is often copied but never matched in culinary excellence! You never know, you may just leave an “Egghead” before it’s over.
Most importantly though, this is an event that directly benefits the Texas Children’s Hospital. All net proceeds from Space City EggFest go directly to benefit the kids at TCH.
An Egghead is best described by a quote in Bon Appetit Magazine. “Music has Deadheads. Football has Cheeseheads. And barbecue has Eggheads. You’ll know this last group by the egg-shaped green grills they’ll be standing next to, tongs in hand, looking to extol the virtues of the Big Green Egg. Their mantra goes something like this: It’s foolproof, fuel-efficient, and can cook anything from fish and steak to pizza and pie. You have to get one. Now.”
Imagine a day-long festival with hundreds of people gathered at a smoke-filled venue sharing the love of “Egging”, passing the food and enjoying the party-like atmosphere. Sound like fun? It’s an Eggfest! The volunteer cooks feed their hungry attendees all for the pure love of cooking on an Egg. Who better to talk to than someone who’s cooking on the actual grill and has a love and passion for it.
A Demo Egg is an Egg that you purchase for a great deal prior to Eggfest. The Egg will be cooked on the day of Eggfest by one of our registered cooks, and then you will pick it up at the end of the day (we start loading Eggs around 4pm). This is a great way to get your first Egg or to add to your Egg family!
Nope! Your registration will serve as your event entrance.
Cold Beverages will be available for purchase. Water will be provided.
• Avoid bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods and minimize contact with raw foods. You can use disposable gloves, tongs, deli paper or other means to accomplish this.
• Hands must be washed prior to and when changing gloves.
• Hair restraints must be worn (hairnets or ball caps).
• No smoking or tobacco us in the food preparation or sales area.
• Food must be protected from contamination at all times.
• Ice used to cool drinks and food cannot be used for service to the customer. Use a scoop to dispense the ice, not your hands.
General Event Parking:
In most cases, Egghead parking will be available at your tent. If you are unable to park at your tent, there will be designated Egghead parking extremely close to the cooking area.
Help will also be available to assist in any way possible from our local Boy Scouts and other great organization’s volunteers that will be on-hand the day of the event.
